Why we use KRAs Instead of OKRs at Fishtank Consultancy

KRA at Fishtank Consultancy

Behind every client project, we need a clear way to stay aligned as a team, especially in a remote setup.

We still use goals, but we don’t rely on goals alone.

For our way of working, we use KRAs (Key Result Areas) to define the core responsibility areas we expect consistent performance in over time. This helps keep expectations clear, even when priorities shift during the year.

OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) are a strong framework for driving measurable outcomes, and we implement OKR framework with clients when it fits their operating model. Internally, however, at Fishtank Consultancy we use KRAs because they align better with how we structure consulting responsibilities and delivery standards across projects.

At Fishtank, we keep it practical with four KRAs:

  • Client Delivery & Customer Experience

  • Growth (Customer & Marketing)

  • Capability Development & Learning

  • Process Excellence & Automation.

During the year, performance is supported through regular conversations, clear responsibilities, and continuous feedback. KRAs give us a stable reference point, while goals can evolve based on project needs.

We use Zoho People to keep it consistent and lightweight, and to document KRAs without unnecessary administration.
